Estimating finish times, and my last long run

I ran twelve miles on Saturday & it was great. Finished in 2:13, so I'm definitely feeling ready for my half marathon in a couple of weeks. I'm fighting off a nasty cold, so things have been pretty quiet on the fitness front the last few days.

I did manage to make it to the gym last night for some light elliptical + strength, & I felt like an Olympian for pulling that off with a runny nose/head cold. ;-)

I'm focusing on trying to lose five pounds in May, so I'm working hard on cleaning up my eating (the occasional treat, rather than having it be an every day thing) & tracking my calories a bit more closely. Lately I've been just guesstimating.

And, I went shopping! Ugly bathroom photos return!

Here's today's outfit. Featuring the $10 polka dot top that my sister talked me into. :-)

In running-related news, I just discovered that I put myself down for a 3 hour finish in the Portland R&R. Judging by my time of 2:13 in my twelve miler on Saturday, I'm assuming I'm going to be done way before that. Oops. How do you estimate your finish time? Do you take your best long run & add time (since I'm comparing 12 miles to just over 13, I'm assuming that it will be more like 2:30). . . does that sound reasonable?

  1. Cute outfits! I was thinking about doing the Kirkland half but I have the Beat the Bridge the next weekend. Not sure about racing 2 weekends in a row. Although, it is Mother's Day so I should be able to do what I want right? Way to go on your 12 miler!

    1. DO it! I'm doing the Kirkland Half & then Portland R&R the following weekend. I figure, it's Mother's Day, & I'm going to indulge myself after I run hard. ;-)

  2. Yes, you'll be done way before 3 hours. Sometimes I don't mind starting farther back than I could only because it forces me to slow down at the start. But 2:30 will definitely be a closer estimate, but I bet you'll run raster because it's race day! Good luck!

  3. Oh girl- you will be done way before 3 hours! Congrats on your 12 miler. I'm itching to run- I can't wash my hair for 48 hours so that means no running until tomorrow evening! Going for a nice long run too!

Oh, don't be surprised if u blow your time outta the water - you always run much faster in an actual race!

  4. I love the polka dot top. So cute.

I would have to agree, you will be done way before three hours. Great job on your training. You might even surprise yourself on race day and pull off something way faster!

  5. I think you should be able to do the Kirkland in 2:30 - it is hilly for sure, but I think you are ready for it.

  6. I really think you'll do well in your half! I'm guessing 2:10! I love your fashion though seriously and when I buy new's always the mirror bathroom shots!

  7. Great 12 miler - you are definitely ready! Really like the polka dots!

  8. If you did 12 in 2:13, you should be able to race a 2:15 for a half. "Should" :)

You need to get out of that 3 hour finish corral!
